Dragon Belloit
Teagan “Dragon” Belloit is a third-generation Jacksonvillian. They were born in a Jacksonville hospital, raised in Atlantic Beach, and currently residing in Arlington. They work at a rehabilitation center. They received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of North Florida. They are pursuing their Master’s of Social Work at Arizona State University, online to ensure they have time for their internship and full-time job.
Dragon is an average Jacksonvillian. They spend their free time advocating for the hundreds of thousands of residents like them who are struggling under the crushing weight of a growing cost-of-living crisis. They volunteer with various mutual aid and town improvement projects. They regularly attend City Council meetings to advocate for the homeless, the elderly, and the environment.
Dragon is running for City Council At Large Group 2 to be a voice for the people who are ignored by current city leadership.
so what’s up with the dragon thing?
“Since I was about 11, everyone I knew called me Dragon — because I like dragons. Growing up in a military-heavy community down in Atlantic Beach, all my in-person friends tended to move after three years or so, so I did a lot of online chatting. My online handle had “dragon” in it, and so it was shortened to Dragon.
Now, everybody calls me Dragon. My brother, my best friend, my colleagues — I’m just Dragon. Pretty much the only exception is my mom (love you mom.)”
Who is Dragon Belloit?
in their own words
Student
I have been a student since I turned 5, which is when you go to school, in case you didn’t have that information.
Currently, I take a full set of online courses while I work full-time, but I have always loved academia and am a proud UNF Alumni. Go Ospreys!
Advocate
Much of my time is spent advocating for the people in my community, whether that be by showing up to City Council or asking directly for assistance, funding, or a problem to be solved.
I work with local mutual aid groups to share food, disseminate literature, pick up trash, or advocate for change in our community, depending on the need. You may even have seen me on TV.
Counselor
I am so proud of my work as a counselor, rehabilitator, and mental health technician at several facilities all around Jacksonville. I am working towards my masters’ degree in Social Work, and social work, rehabilitation, and direct action is very important to me.
I also sold ZipFizz from a stand in a Sam’s Club, but that’s less relevant.
